If your child is league-age 15 but is in the 8th grade, he is still able to play 14u baseball this season. If this is you, please send an email to email@example.com to inquire about signing up. The only registration form will not allow you to sign up, we'll have to manually complete registration.
This year will be the first time that we offer "AA" division. Every year, more and more players choose to play on a "select" team beyond the scope of their rec association. The fees association with these select/travel teams can be very high. These teams usually consist of players from all over the area. By Celina Parks and Recreation offering AA divisions, we can help keep Celina players playing together and provide a more competitive environment. The purpose of the AA division (as we start this venture) is to have the more skilled players in our league playing together and playing against tougher competition, while keeping players practicing locally.
We are only offering in the 8u and 10u divisions to start because these were our largest divisions last year. All players interested in the AA division will have the opportunity to attend a mandatory tryout, date is currently set for the evening of 1/24/2019 @ Old Celina Park baseball fields. We will bring in a panel of baseball coaches/instructors that are neutral parties to our league to conduct the evaluations. The instructors will choose the best players as determined from the skill assessment to make up the roster. The head coach coach of the "AA" teams will be a parent from one of the selected players. Process to determine the Head Coach and assistant coaches is still being determined in the event there is more than 1 person who wants to take the role.
All players who sign up and do not make a AA roster will be played into the player pool for the "A" division. All players in the "A" player pool will be placed onto a team.
The game schedule for the AA team(s) is going to be a flexible schedule. As not every town in the interlock will be forming AA teams, we most likely will not have a standard league for the AA teams. We will be setting up games with other AA teams in the area. We also want our Celina AA teams to compete in tournaments. Not all tournaments will be covered by the collected registration fees: some tournaments may require additional fees to be collected. As this is our first year offering the AA division, this will be a learning process for everyone involved.
The registration fees collected will still cover the jersey top and hat, field use fees, and standard team equipment. Parents who sign up for and end up on a AA roster must be aware that there will be some additional fees collected during the season to help cover tournament fees.
To be included in the 8u or 10u "AA" tryout list, be sure to mark the "AA" option in the registration form when prompted. It is towards the end. No player who is playing up will be eligible to play on a "AA" team in that age-up division for this first season.
If you are interested in being a head coach for one of our "A" rec teams, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the interest list. We will determine the total number of teams we'll have once registration had ended. Priority is given to coaches returning to their same division from Spring 2018, and then to coaches returning from last season but moving up. Additional spots are filled from the interest list after discussing qualifications with remaining interested persons.
